I'm nervous about speaking Dutch. Is that a problem?
No. Nobody else is in the lesson, so you can make mistakes and try again.
What happens in the free intro? Do I have to book lessons after it?
You talk for 15 minutes about your level and your goal, and you can ask your questions. After the call, you decide. You don't have to book anything.
I'm a complete beginner and my English isn't very good. Can I still start?
Yes. You don't need to know any Dutch, and your English doesn't have to be perfect. You can get explanations in English when you need them.
Is €50 an hour worth it? Group courses and apps cost less.
Usually they do, and they can be a good choice. In a group you share the speaking time. An app can't listen to you or answer your questions. In a private lesson, the whole hour is spent on you. You can also combine them: use an app for daily practice and private lessons for what you find hardest.
How many lessons will I need?
That depends on your level, your goal and how much you practise between lessons. Talk about it in your free intro. If you plan to take more lessons, ask about the package deal too.
I'm worried about my exam. What can I do?
Add your exam date to your message, so you can talk about it in the free intro. In your lessons you prepare for the inburgering exams or the Staatsexamen NT2, with one-to-one practice on the parts you find hardest. Nobody can honestly promise you a pass, but you don't have to practise alone.
My child is behind in Dutch. How do we start?
Start with the free 15-minute intro. You can join as a parent and talk about what your child finds hard. After the call, you decide. Lessons are one-to-one over Zoom, with a tutor who has taught Dutch in schools.
What do I need for online lessons?
A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera and microphone, plus a stable internet connection. You'll get a Zoom link for each lesson.
Can I pay for lessons with my DUO inburgering loan?
No. These are private lessons, so you can't pay for them with a DUO loan. You can take them alongside your course or to prepare for your exams.
